Planning Your First International Trip from Dhaka: A Step-by-Step Guide

Travelling abroad for the first time is exciting, but the planning can feel overwhelming. Breaking it into a few clear steps makes the whole process easier — whether you are planning a family holiday, a honeymoon or a short getaway.

1. Choose your destination and set a budget

Decide what kind of trip you want — beaches, cities, nature or shopping — and how much you can comfortably spend. Include flights, visa fees, hotels, food, local transport, activities and a small emergency fund.

2. Pick the right travel dates

Weather, peak seasons and public holidays all affect prices and crowds. Travelling slightly outside peak season can often save money.

3. Check your passport and visa

Make sure your passport has enough validity left, then check whether your destination needs a visa in advance, offers visa on arrival, or has an e-visa. Start visa preparation early.

4. Book flights and hotels

Compare routes and baggage allowances, not just ticket prices. Choose hotels in convenient locations close to transport and the places you want to visit.

5. Prepare before you fly

  • Keep printed and digital copies of your passport, visa, tickets and hotel bookings
  • Carry some foreign currency and check that your card works abroad
  • Consider travel insurance for medical emergencies and cancellations
  • Save your hotel address and emergency contact numbers on your phone

Package tour or customized trip?

A package tour is the easiest option for first-time travellers because flights, hotels and sightseeing are arranged for you. A customized trip lets you choose your own pace, hotels and activities. We can help with either.
